This is hands down the best sushi restaurant in Denver! The service is always warm and welcoming, making every visit a delight. We first tried the top-level omakase, and it was absolutely fantastic--each piece was exquisitely crafted and bursting with flavor. On our next visit, we sampled some rolls on special, which were light and satisfyingly meaty. The fish is incredibly fresh, and the atmosphere is both elegant and inviting. I love everything about this place and can't recommend it enough!

Stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful experience! The space itself is super clean and trendy and the sushi bar is huge. The service was quick and kind and the sushi itself was extremely fresh, may have been the tightest rolls I've ever seen as well. I will be coming back! Side note: the cocktails are delicious too, I just wish they had a longer cocktail list.

Delicious sushi, probably the best I've had in Colorado! Great ambiance, clean, bright, airy. The service had issues. Our server was super out of it - by his own words! He was spacey and numerous times I saw our plates ready to be served but he was hanging talking to other people. At one point most of the sushi guys went into the back and I heard some loud yelling- not sure what happened there! Overall, definitely fun to have the omasake and would do it again- but prepare to spend like 2 hours there, even if not busy-- as we did. Also- if bringing kids, be aware no changing table. But yea, the sushi was super fresh and super delicious. Probably would be good for ordering take-out too!

I came to Makizushico with a good friend for lunch and we decided to get the Omakase. For those who do not know, omakase is where the sushi chef chooses what the diner eats and the diner allows the sushi chef full control of the menu. The price for omakase varies from restaurant to restaurant and more importantly season to season, based on what type of fish / ingredients are available. The quality of fish at Makizushico is simply 5 star and the sushi rice is exquisite. The decor at Makizushico is very clean, pretty modern with an earthy feel as the entire place is made of wood. One has the option of sitting at regular tables or at the sushi bar, so this place is good for large groups, date night, or dining alone. The kitchen is open and if you sit at the sushi bar, you can see what wonderful culinary creations the sushi chefs are preparing. My friend and I sat at the sushi bar and patiently waited for the omakase to begin. This first dish was a delicious salad with a umami/tangy asian dressing atop mixed greens, tomato and thinly sliced apples. Perfect balance of flavors and textures and I highly recommend it! 5/5 stars. The Omakase itself was delicious! A delicious procession of tasty morsel after tasty morsel, each one more delicious than the last. There were too many to list through, but notable mention was the foie gras was AMAZING - a delicacy that I am unable to get in California. Other notable mentions include Red Snapper Medai, New Zealand King salmon, Golden eye snapper - the list continues. However, the sushi was good because the chef selects the best quality fish that is available that day, so your Omakase may different than mine, and may differ from the last visit you had. Service is 5 stars and the folks working the sushi counter are not only great at their craft, but are happy to engage in conversation, educating on the the type of fish being prepared, offering little pearls of wisdom about the process and sushi culture in general. Highly recommend this place. I look forward to coming back to Makizushico in the near future! Be sure to try the Omakase - You'll love it!

This place was quite busy on a Saturday night. We had a party of 5 and waited about 10 mins with reservations. It was bustling and loud, but we were still able to have conversations. The staff were friendly and efficient. Hubs and I got the omakase. They had 3 tiers to choose from. Each one had a number of courses for an increasing set of prices. We chose 21 courses for $100 I think. It was definitely worth it! Each course did not disappoint. My favorite was the chutoro, a fatty tuna. It melts in your mouth and is the perfect bite. The rest of our party ordered dishes off the menu that were also delicious. I would definitely return on our next trip to Denver!

HOLY COW. This place is GOOD. It's a random hole in the wall spot, for sure. The flavors and how the chef paired them were remarkable. You can't beat the price either! If my husband and I lived closer, we'd probably go once a month. Tried the Omakase. It's a shit ton of food but so worth it! They had foie gras which was a randomly pleasant surprise. I think in total we had ~16 pieces of fish, soup, salad, and steam egg. Definitely coming back and using this restaurant as a staple dinner location for celebrations.

First dinner during our June, 2024 Colorado trip was at Makizushico on the 18th. We arrived shortly after 7:30 PM sans reservations to a nearly full dining room inside. We waited about twenty minutes to be seated because we did not want to eat al fresco. Located at the front corner spot of the The Shoppes at Columbine Valley strip mall, parking is ample and the venue's interior is open and warm. Inside, the focal point is the sushi bar where they offer counter seating within a main room of wooden floors, tables, chairs, and walls. The décor is simple with a modern air. We were seated in the semi-private room towards the back which was nice. The entire space appeared very clean, but we did ask for our table to be wiped down before having any food or drinks served to us. Below are some of the items that we ordered: Takoyaki ($7) - Alyssa enjoyed this Hot Starter. Spider Roll ($14) - Not bad. We omitted the eel sauce. Not sure if it would have been better with the sauce. Salmon Roll ($7) - This was one of Auntie Ligaya's orders. She liked this Maki Roll. Avocado Roll ($6) - Alyssa found this vegetarian roll to be tasty. Shrimp Tempura Roll ($12) - Auntie Ligaya happily gobbled every piece of this maki sushi. Gyoza ($8) - Nice, flavourful. Seaweed Salad ($6) - Refreshingly good. Wagyu Fried Rice ($19) - Excellent! To be honest, I initially wasn't excited at all by this dish, automatically expecting to see fatty meat. Wow, I was not only surprised by the lean pieces of meat, I was pleasantly taken aback by the deliciousness. Miso Black Cod ($28) - Both mom and I ordered this Entree. The moist and flaky pieces of fish were pretty small. Good thing that Mom and I also ordered a Spider Roll, Gyoza, and Seaweed Salad to share because the portion of this main dish alone would have left us still hungry. Service was friendly and quick. We received the check without being asked first if anyone was interested in dessert, though, so can't say that customer care was stellar.

I have wanted to get my omakase on for many years and we finally got it done for my birthday this year. Makizushico was a great spot for it! It is not that small intimate atmosphere however the experience is pretty much the same. We got to try so many yummy things and take a few sake shots with the head chef which was fun! Starts with miso and salad. Egg custard and then the onslaught begins. My only complaint is the torch. It made some of these delicious course taste completely like butane. Especially the wagu which was a big let down. The chef was very knowledgeable and sweet. Unfortunately hard to understand at times but that's okay we got through it :)

Absolutely amazing experience yet again. This is not a spot you want to miss out on. Amazing quality, amazing service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend their omakase, it's incredibly filling and delicious. I have to say this place is definitely worth the 40 min drive from home.
